Mission, Vision, and Goals Mission: The Department of Nursing Services and Patient Care (DoN) and the College of Nursing (CoN) formed a partnership in 2006 to create the Nursing Clinical Education Center (NCEC.  This partnership meets the mutual benefit of each entity's education missions and endeavors while gaining efficiencies in the use of educational resources. Vision:  To lead the nation in creating a safe, integrated teaching, learning, and simulation environment. Collaborate in supporting evidence-based patient-centered care, research, quality/safety, and inspire our learners to provide safe, high-quality patient and family-centered care. Goals: Provide simulation opportunities on multiple levels for multiple types of learning. Support optimal use of the NCEC for all purposes involving nursing and inter-professional education. Meet or exceed SSIH accreditation requirements. Increase nurses and other health care providers' involvement in simulation within University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC). Provide training and continuous development for simulation faculty. Develop research on the effectiveness of simulation as a learning strategy to enhance selected learning outcomes and patient safety.
